The Information Management Specialist (IMS) is the USAID/Peru & South America Regional Program Mission’s senior expert in information systems, responsible for supervising a team of two in the Information Technology (IT) team, within the Regional Executive Office of USAID/Peru. The IMS serves under the supervision of the Supervisory Executive Officer and receives technical guidance from the Chief Information Office (CIO) in Washington DC. The job holder's delegated responsibility is to provide leadership, direction, guidance, and management oversight to the IT team and has full management responsibility for providing technological support for USAID/Peru, which together comprises approximately 130 staff. As a member of the USAID/Peru Regional Executive Office, the job holder shall provide back-up support and coaching to IT staff in the client Missions, including USAID/Brazil, USAID/Ecuador and USAID/Paraguay.

The IMS shall serve as the primary principal person responsible for the overall operation of the Mission's IT systems and communications. The job holder is responsible for closely working and collaborating with M/CIO on the day-to-day systems and network operations for USAID/Peru. This includes ensuring that appropriate safeguards are in place to prevent unauthorized access to systems, files, and programs, troubleshooting hardware and software problems, elevating issues to M/CIO when appropriate, and regularly reviewing the list of IT-related equipment and recommending procurement of new hardware and software based on the M/CIO-approved list of equipment and software.

The IMS is the technical point of contact with relevant offices in M/CIO and serves as the advisor on all IT related issues. The job holder provides expertise in the areas of information resources management, inventory management, administration, information security, data protection, and security training.

Conocimientos y Requisitos


A minimum of five years of progressively responsible work experience in computer operations and utilization of systems and management of a technical or administrative nature is required. This experience should include leadership experience and the overall management and logistical operation support of complex computer systems.


Bachelor’s degree of host country academic equivalent in the fields of computer science, information systems management and administration or equivalent field is required.
